I accidentally stumbled upon this the other day. There's a 100 in one (or 
something like that) classic game arcade cabinet at SVGL. Reminiscing over the 
games of old, I look through the Capcom games, and sure enough, a game titled 
Sonson shows up! Needless to say, my token went in the machine to try it out. 

Now, normally I enjoy classic games, but this I found this game to be pretty 
boring. It's best described as a cross between a side-scrolling shooter and, 
uh... Mappy? You basically continue scrolling to the right, jumping up and down 
platforms, shooting enemies (NOT with flying sperm-like monkeys, BTW) and 
picking up assorted foods and fruits for points. If you pick up a POW, all 
enemies on the screen turn into edibles, which explains her MvC2 super. If you 
die, you come back in on that flying cloud thingie she air dashes with. 

The game is old enough so that you cannot tell if Sonson is supposed to be 
female or not. Actually, I find it kinda interesting that Capcom used that old 
Chinese Monkey King legend (same as Dragonball) as the backdrop for the game, 
since you swap just about ANY character in for Sonson and it wouldn't make any 
difference. Besides the flying cloud, this game has NO connection at all to the 
original story. 

The game is two player simultaneous, and the second player plays as a 
elephant-human thing, whom, AFAIK, wasn't in the legend either.  

But yeah, I hope your curiosity is sated now.  If this is old news, then call me 
a caveman.

Yeah, I think Capcom mentioned somewhere that MvC2 Sonson is the granddaughter 
of that Sonson.

I'm not sure but I think the SonSon/DBZ legend was told by the chinese. It's 
about a human pig and sonson and another dude believing in Buddah. 

Well, i already knew that too..... 

Most of these things were told to us when mvc2 came out

yeah, i remember sonson ( well, the name anyway  ) 
It was released again a few years ago in Capcom Generations #3 on saturn. 
Actually, i think Sonson was one of the first, if not the first game Capcom 
released in the arcades in 1984.

Are the little monkeys that come out of SonSon's mouth when she blows the kisses 
the same as the little monkey in SonSon1984? He looks the same...
